"The Shape of water" is marine inspired moodboard focused on waves, sea creatures, stripes and organic shapes.
Marine references, organic forms, stripes and textures developed into a textile design direction.
To create a new seahorse, I tried modifying some parts of its body, such as the tail, by combining them with a pattern inspired by Blossfeldt.
As I imagined seahorses swimming among the seaweed, I tried to recreate this effect by moving the lines.
The final result of the project after various experiments with color and shades. The animals appear and disappear behind this vertical geometric pattern.
A mockup created using AI. The all-over print applied to a two-piece set.
For a kaftan, I created an all-over pattern starting with the octopus, working on one half and then mirroring it. The vertical stripes are meant to evoke the waves of the sea.
An AI-generated video mockup, a close-up, and the all-over pattern.
A short visual research on nautical references, focusing on blue and white stripes, ropes, fishing boats, wave patterns and coastal workwear. The research explores how these elements can be translated into contemporary textile patterns.
Various drawing exercises, some featuring human figures and others not, along with different ideas for depicting ocean waves, this time in a horizontal orientation.
Final design: all-over print with a front and side view of a boat dipping into the water.
